What are terracotta louvers?

Terracotta louvers, also known as terracotta baguettes, are extruded fired-clay elements used for architectural screens, sunshades, fins, decorative columns and facade accents. Their colors, profiles and spacing give designers ways to create depth, rhythm, privacy and changing patterns of light and shadow.
Louvers can be positioned in front of aluminum windows or glazed facades, frame openings, form balcony screens or complement terracotta panels. Natural fired tones and selected glazed finishes offer a coordinated material palette for contemporary or traditional architecture. The units are supported by a product-specific mechanical fixing system. Select the profile, span, brackets and anchors for the intended orientation and site conditions. Durability, maintenance requirements, reaction to fire and environmental performance should be checked against current product information and the complete facade design; a louver screen does not automatically guarantee energy savings or code compliance.

Terracotta baguette and louver sizes can be customized, subject to the selected profile, finish, quantity and manufacturing review. These limits do not mean that every combination is available. Confirm the dimensioned section, length, tolerances, orientation, support span and fixing interface before specification.

SHAPE

Common profiles include square, rectangular, triangular, oval and circular cross-sections. Special shapes, selected curves and custom terracotta sunshade profiles can be reviewed on request. Supply a dimensioned section, required length, visible faces and quantity so that tooling, firing, fixing and corner details can be assessed. Confirm feasibility with a sample and approved drawing.

COLORS

Available options can include natural fired-clay colors, metallic-effect surfaces and glazed finishes, depending on the product series. Textures include natural smooth, sandblasted and combed surfaces. Custom ceramic sunscreen colors and finishes can be reviewed on request.

Use physical samples to confirm color, gloss, texture and acceptable variation. Fired-clay tones may vary with material, firing conditions and production batches, so coordinate connected elevations and replacement pieces with the approved sample range.

Terracotta Louver System

LEIYUAN supports project enquiries for rectangular, curved and special-profile terracotta louvers, with suitable products and supply arrangements confirmed for each application. Cross-sections can include oval, rectangular, square, circular and triangular forms, subject to current availability. Louvers and baguettes add depth and visual rhythm in front of windows, balconies and glass curtain walls, and can also be used at corners, parapets, ventilation enclosures and parking structures.

Combining louvers with terracotta panels creates a coordinated facade, with spacing, colors and profiles selected together. A complete system includes the clay units, compatible connectors, supports, brackets and anchors. Side-fixing and end- or back-fixing arrangements depend on the selected profile and support system. Horizontal, vertical and angled layouts require project-specific engineering for loads, movement, drainage, safe handling and maintenance.

Miter-cut corner options can be reviewed for compatible products. Decorative screens are not automatically compliant guarding or ventilation systems; the responsible designers must check opening sizes, impact loads and airflow as applicable. Terracotta Baguette

Terracotta baguette sunscreens can introduce subtle variation, surface texture and sculptural effects to a building. Extruded profiles, colors and finishes offer choices ranging from restrained linear screens to expressive facade compositions. Their contribution to shading depends on orientation, profile depth, spacing, solar angles and the glazing behind. Confirm the geometry through project-specific design; the screen alone does not guarantee energy savings.

Terracotta Sunshade

In some markets, “baguette” describes a square or regular linear sunshade profile, while “louver” is used for rectangular or other shaped elements. Terminology varies between specifications and countries. To avoid confusion, identify the product code, dimensioned cross-section, length, orientation, finish and fixing method when requesting a terracotta sunshade quotation.

How does production differ between terracotta panels and baguettes?

Terracotta panels and baguettes are formed from prepared clay, dried, fired and inspected. Drying conditions and production time depend on the clay body, profile, wall thickness, length and finish. Panels may use controlled kiln drying, while some baguette routes use longer controlled or natural drying; a fixed eight-hour or three-day cycle should not be assumed for every product.

In a roller-hearth process, a contact face may show support marks or refractory separator material. Aluminum oxide can be used in certain production routes, but its presence and purpose should be confirmed for the selected product. Identify all visible faces when reviewing samples so that contact surfaces, appearance and glaze coverage can be agreed.

Irregular or curved profiles and four-side glazed baguettes may require alternative supports, firing orientation or a tunnel-kiln route. Feasibility depends on the shape, glaze and manufacturing line.
